The turnout was impressive Friday night, when the Board of Campus Activities and the Judicial Board co-sponsored their annual talent show. A number of acts performed, including comedian Dan Ahdoot, and many student performers. Festivities began with an introduction by Comedy Central's Dan Ahdoot that roused the crowd and set the mood for the student acts to follow.
For more than half of the day on Apr. 4, AFROTC cadets met at Gunsite to familiarize themselves with the basics of tactical shooting. Set up by Cadet 3rd Class Scott Neidrick and his assistants, the cadets of Detachment 028 were taught by instructors at one of the-if not the most-prestigious tactical firearms schools in the U.
The aviation industry changes constantly. Even in a small town like Prescott, Arizona, new things happen. A local company, Legend Aviation, manages the Horizon Air flights into Love Field as well as their own private terminal. Until recently, Legend Aviation operated out of a singlewide trailer adjacent to the Love Field terminal that was far too small for their purposes.

Chartwells Dining Services has been working with the University to help boost energy saving campaigns that have been implemented across the campus to benefit the environment and "Go Green". Throughout the month of March, Chartwells has dimmed the lights in the Loose Deuce Cafe from sun up to sun down in an effort to reduce the amount of electricity used.
As the spring semester draws to a close, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's students take time to evaluate all that they have accomplished over the last semester. Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps detachment 028 does so in its own unique way. Detachment 028 held their annual formal "Dining Out" at the Windmill House in Chino Valley.
The Lower Hanger at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's student union housed a unique event on Apr. 9. For the first time at the Prescott campus, ERAU witnessed an all-Greek Community Banquet. Hosted by the Greek Council-a joint group consisting of members of the Pan-Hellenic Council and Inter-Fraternity Council-with Brian Hubbard as Master of Ceremonies, the banquet was the capstone of an active spring semester for the Greek Community.
Senior Night Out on Friday, Apr. 3, was host to approximately 200 guests. The annual event, organized by the Alumni Association, was held at the Hotel St. Michael. The Alumni Association and the staff of the Hotel St. Michael provided free food and music in celebration of the upcoming graduation.
At this very moment, thousands of men and women from the armed services of the United States are in harm's way across the globe. Unfortunately, the military often asks some of those men and women to lay down their lives while serving their country. When such a tragic event occurs, those casualties come home through Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
The flightline operates all summer long, even between summer semesters, and can be a great way to catch on some flying or even get ahead in some ways. It can even be a way for someone who is not an aeronautical science student to tests the water of getting a pilot certificate quicker than during the normal school year.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has instituted a new air-traffic control laboratory at the David L. and S. Harry Robertson Flight Simulation Center. The facility will be used to give students realistic training in air traffic control through simulation.
The third annual Scholarly Speaking event was held Thursday, Apr. 9, on the second floor lobby of the Christine and Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Library and Learning Center. Joanne Evanoff, electronic services librarian and dedicated member of the Hazy Library staff, originally created this unique academic gathering to recognize the authors and publications of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott campus community.
The first planets discovered outside of the local solar system were discovered more than ten years ago. Since then, more than 300 additional planets have been found. However, none of these planets are like the Earth. Most of these planets are massive Jupiter-sized planets, and some come closer to their respective stars than Mercury comes to the sun.
Lorentz transformations happen when an object accelerates or travels near the speed of light; the transformations describe the apparent length and time dilation of the object that occurs at such speeds from an outside observer's point of view. Two types of Lorentz transformations exist: boost and rotational.
The space shuttle Discovery lifted off from Kennedy Space Center on Mar. 15, carrying the last solar wing to the International Space Station, on what is being called mission STS-119. The new solar wing will increase the power on board the space station to levels high enough to support a crew size of six, and will also allow more scientific experiments to be carried out.
It was 7:45 a.m. on a Tuesday morning. The birds weren't even up yet, but over in the Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication Building, students assembled around a small plexiglass cube like moths around a flame. The cube, the center of everyone's attention, represented a satellite and demonstrated many of the same capabilities as an operational satellite.
Retired Colonel Fred J. Cone was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. In his teens he was a farmer; unfortunately, all of his crops died. He received an NROTC Scholarship and attended the University of New Mexico, where he earned a degree in civil engineering.
Author John Hemingway, grandson of Ernest Hemingway, spoke at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in late March about the impact of family events on his family's relationships. Dr. Tom Vickers introduced Hemingway, author of "Strange Tribe: A Family Memoir," at the final 2008-2009 ERAU Arts & Letters Series Committee event.
This past Easter weekend, the Steven M. Scherp Arnold Air Society Squadron and Silver Wings Chapter attended their annual National Conclave (NATCON), hosted this year by Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. NATCON allows all of the nation's squadrons and chapters to meet one another, vote on national staff and other society business matters, and present national level awards.
Professor Susan Lohn, psychology teacher for the College of Arts and Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is creating SIS 395JJ, a course on deception. While collecting research for her doctoral dissertation, Lohn found enough information that relates to the global security and intelligence studies major that she decided to ask several students and professors what they thought about adding a class on deception.
No one can deny that the Beatles are one of the most influential rock bands of the past half-century. Dr. Alan Malnar, of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's College of Arts and Sciences, will incorporate this band's legacy into his new HU 145 course to be offered in the fall at the Prescott campus.
On Apr. 18, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, along with a number of clubs, will be hosting the Kick Out Violence event on the ERAU soccer field. This event is intended to increase awareness of Stepping Stones and will be open to the community. Stepping Stones is an organization dedicated to providing emergency shelter and support services to women and children that have been victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in West Yavapai County.

It is crazy to think that we are coming up on finals and, even better, summer! I hope you are all prepared for your finals, especially all of our seniors who will be graduating come May 2! SGA has had a great year. We started off the year with Octoberwest and went right into the Presidential Election Parties in the Lower Hanger.
