The 2008 Kajikawa Classic tournament featured top ten USA softball collegiate teams as they hashed it out on Feb. 15 - 17 down in Tempe, AZ at the Tempe Sports Complex and Farrington Stadium at ASU.

The host of the tournament was No. 4 ASU Sun Devils, hosting their first home tournament of the season. Day 1 of the tournament posed a problem as eight games were cancelled due to rain.

Despite bad weather, ASU walked away a with a 6-0 victory against the Western Michigan Broncos. Katie Burkhart didn't give the Broncos a chance with only three hits and 18 strikeouts. Other victories included No. 3 Texas A&M, which defeated Nevada in a 5-0 victory. Utah defeated Texas State in a 10-8 victory that went for nine innings.

Day 2 of the Kajikawa Classic showed promising weather with blue skies and only a few dark clouds. The Sun Devils brought their record to 8-1 by defeating Virginia 0-2, Memphis 3-4, and Nebraska 1-2.

Pitcher Amanda Nesbitt took her second win against the Virginia Cavaliers with eight strikeouts and only allowing two runs.

The defense performed while Megan Elliot pitched a complete game against the Memphis Tigers, allowing only three hits. Kaitlin Cochran lead the offense with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI's that had the fans cheering her on after the third inning.

For their third game of the day, the Sun Devils faced off against Nebraska for a night game. Burkhart performed once again, allowing only one hit and striking out 12, while Krista Donnenwith hit a grand slam in the fourth inning.

Day 2 also showed that Nevada was a team to be reckoned with as they defeated both Texas State and UMKC. University of Arizona could not seem to get it together with losses against Northwestern 8-5 and Texas A&M 3-2.

The Sun Devils walked away with two more victories on Day 3 of the tournament. ASU took on UMKC in a 15-2 victory that ended after only five innings and a shutout against Texas State at 4-0.
