Chartwells Dining Services has been working with the University to help boost energy saving campaigns that have been implemented across the campus to benefit the environment and "Go Green".
Throughout the month of March, Chartwells has dimmed the lights in the Loose Deuce Cafe from sun up to sun down in an effort to reduce the amount of electricity used.
Matt Turner, Director of Dining Services says," We looked at the expense from March of 2008 and thought how great it would be to compare the savings if we turned down the lights during the daytime service hours."
The difference in power used between March of last year and this year was a whopping 3,000 kilowatt-hours! Because of that fantastic savings, Chartwells will continue to "Dine in the Dark" for as long as practical.
Chartwells believes that not only will Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University benefit from this effort, but that the environment will too.
