Legend Aviation Opens New FBO

The aviation industry changes constantly. Even in a small town like Prescott, Arizona, new things happen. A local company, Legend Aviation, manages the Horizon Air flights into Love Field as well as their own private terminal. Until recently, Legend Aviation operated out of a singlewide trailer adjacent to the Love Field terminal that was far too small for their purposes.
In completion of stage two of its five-stage renovation, Legend Aviation has refurbished one of the airport's older buildings and transformed it into a pilot-friendly station for general aviation.
The new building boasts a pilot lounge, café, pilot supply store, and comfortable lobby. Plasma screens scattered about the building provide news and entertainment. The new building also provides visitors with free wireless Internet.
To celebrate the completion and grand opening of their new building, Legend Aviation will be hosting Wings and Wheels on Apr. 18 in conjunction with the Experimental Aircraft Association. This event will be a daylong extravaganza including a show of classic cars, vintage aircraft, and experimental aircraft.
The Transportation and Security Administration has approved Legend Aviation's request to shut down part of the ramp and fence it off, allowing visitors access and interaction with the cars and aircraft.
"Legend is trying to make the grand opening an event for the entire community" said Christopher Woods, the owner of Legend Aviation.
The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast provided by the Experimental Aviation Association in Legend Aviation's new building.
Throughout the day, Guidance helicopter pilots and the Young Eagles program will be providing aircraft flights to young people free of charge.
The event will conclude at 3 p.m. with a bratwurst lunch. This event is open to all of the tri-city area and requires no admission fee.
