In this day and age, many Americans believe that theater is dead and gone. Who goes to Broadway? Why watch traditional Shakespeare when we can watch new versions about gangs? Yes, modernization's hold on the entertainment industry is certainly barraging theater with challenges, but one playwright, Lucy Prebble, has revolutionized theater, bringing it into the 21st century with "ENRON."

That's right, someone has finally done it. They've brought all the mystery, heartbreak, murder, and betrayal of 2001's Enron scandal. At long last, we can immortalize the great villains of our time in literature forever!

ENRON is scheduled to play on Broadway in April, where it will continue to touch the hearts of all those destroyed by scandals such as those of the Enron energy company. Perhaps some Wall Street executives will see it and repent.

One critic even states that it draws parallels to King Lear, so all you crazy traditional-theater nuts can enjoy it, too. What could be more like the fictional story about a king who goes mad and gets back in touch with his sanity through the great love of his daughter? Nothing could parallel this great, timeless, fictional Shakespearean tragedy more than the great, ethically-barren, non-fictional, modern tragedy of men who stole millions from their subordinates and stockholders.

I'm sure that next in the great broadway smash will be "FANNIE" about the most recent economic fiasco caused by irresponsible lending and spending. Perhaps it will draw parallels with the great Shakespearean comedy "The Taming of the Shrew." Oh, next can be "AIG: An American Tale" about the bastardization of bailout funds, turning tax money into executive bonuses. Naturally, it will be an homage to "Richard III."

I, for one, am excited by this new wave of fantastic modern theater. These timeless classics will be exalted by future generations. The lessons to be learned in these shows will surely prevent any further business world scandals. That is, if anyone in the business world cares to go see it.
