When was the last time you have been to a college campus other than Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University? What did you notice that was different? The people? The classes? The male-to-female ratio? The thing I most notice when I visit other universities is how much goes on there. How do I know this? Because students, clubs, restaurants, and community members post fliers for menus, events, and concerts all over the entire campus! Trees, phone poles, cars, bulletin boards, windows. People even stand on the sidewalks passing out handbills to those walking by.

Have you ever wondered why our campus is not like this? Why students don't show up for events, why you never hear about something until the day it is scheduled for?

It is because of the strict posting policy in place at Prescott campus. The only people eligible to hang up posters or fliers are registered student organizations or campus departments, and they can only advertise official school events or announcements. Even then, they still need a stamp of approval to be able to hang it up. And only on certain bulletin boards with certain restrictions.

People complain there is nothing to do in Prescott, but there is plenty to do. We just aren't informed of it because event information is not allowed on our campus.

The Student Government Association is asking for your help in changing the posting policy. We would like to remove the requirement of having to get all fliers stamped before being able to hang them. We would also like all students, community members, and businesses to be able to post freely on the Prescott campus, as many other campuses have. We ask that you stop by the SGA office today to sign our petition supporting this change. We are located in the Student Union. The more student support we have, the more likely we are to be informed.

I would put fliers up telling you to come sign the petition, but I'd have to go through the Riddle run-around of getting 37 signatures and 14 stamps of approval before being able to put them up, and then only with blue painter's tape.
