The steady boom of the speakers drew me near as I walked toward the crowd. Sounds of amazement rose; a hush fell over the crowd, awed and shocked by the daring Alex Herring, Honors Student Association president and RA, who was able to break dance on the makeshift dance pad. This was the stuff of which legends are made, dreams are forged, and most of all, reputations are changed forever! And then the music stopped, and people were sad.

This was the Spring 2009 Activity Fair, highlighting the clubs and student groups at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott Campus. Granted, there were fewer clubs present than last semester, but it was a truly fun and uplifting experience. One of the first things that could be seen in the room was the "Stay up 'til Dawn" booth for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The event is planned to take place during Casino night on March 5, where letters will be written to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. In the words of Area Coordinator John Shoop, "You'll be able to have some fun and help out a great cause as well." There are also rumors of prizes being given out at the event, so be sure to take part and stay posted.

Just a couple booths down, the Sweater Vest Club was avidly recruiting, seeking to get even more members to sign up. A smiling Kelsey Anderson, a club member, stated the purpose of the club as "a way to get to know people and get to play games." Across from them was the booth of the compassionate and dedicated Engineers Without Borders. Structured and named after Doctors Without Borders, this club is planning a trip to Mexico to help create sustainable engineering solutions for other countries. Behind the booths, the sweet serenade of music lofted through the air, as one of the music club's various groups played old jazz tunes. The music club is advocating for music classes to be taught here as humanities classes.

The point is, there is lots of great stuff going on out there, and most of it on campus. Get out, and have fun! This may not be a party school, but there is still lots of fun to be had.
