Looking for quick muscle growth, wanting to bulk up, or wishing to get bigger? All of these goals may be propelling you to the gym. However, with these goals, you must be very careful in how you treat your body. You must do research on proper dieting and weight-lifting techniques, as well as dietary supplements.

Many people have a very dangerous and lackadaisical view about studying up on the proper techniques of taking supplements. Supplements can be very helpful, but they can also be detrimental if taken improperly.

Here are some tips that you can use if you are taking supplements. Let's assume that you understand proper dieting with carbohydrates in the day and proteins and fibers as your main diet.

Protein Shakes:

I am a firm believer in the use of protein shakes. Generally, they cost about $25 to $40, depending on the product and the quantity. Protein shakes are tailored to one purpose: recovery. Your muscles pack all the amino acids and proteins necessary to recover alone; however, protein shakes just speed up the process in recovery, so you can hit the gym harder the next day. Some excellent products in the market today are Optimum Whey Protein, Muscle Milk, and EAS. Don't forget: you must balance your diet! You can't replace your meals with a shake; that does your body and muscles no good. Also, I recommend only whey protein or protein stacked with amino acids like BCAA or glutamine. A lot of the products contain other ingredients that just raise the price, or are useless to your body.

Multi-Vitamins:

So important! I know that a lot of people have a fear of taking pills; however, multi-vitamins ensure the proper circulation and transfer of nutrients throughout your body and muscles. Some good products out there that are popular and effective are Animal Vitamins and One-A-Days. These are safe pills that aid in your venture to shape your body, safely and effectively. However, if you are certain that your diet is fine and already packs those essential vitamins like zinc and magnesium, then don't worry about taking multi-vitamins.
